Media wakes up to union austerity concerns

Amidst the flim-flam of the electoral reform debate and the play station triumphalism following the USA’s elimination of its self created nemesis, the UK newspapers appear to have woken up to the determination of public sector unions to resist the Con Dem onslaught against, jobs, pay and pensions:http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/8488924/Unions-warn-of-massive-protests-over-government-cuts.html

The Daily Telegraph reports Dave Prentis as follows: "After the double bank holiday, feel-good factor wears off, the reality of austerity Britain will kick back in. Unless this Government changes direction, it is heading for industrial turmoil on a massive scale. The Government must understand that Unison will fight tooth and nail to protect and defend public services, and will ballot one million of its members to strike to protect their pensions.”

The Mirror notes that ‘activists will discuss action over spending and job cuts at annual union conferences, starting later this month’:
