The HOPE not hate campaign formally kicks off its 2011 election campaign with a weekend of action on 19/20 March. We'll be taking to streets of England in a bid to ensure that the BNP are not able to win any seats in May's local elections. http://www.hopenothate.org.uk/action/
Last year we dealt the BNP an almost fatal blow in the local and General elections, wiping them out of Barking and Dagenham altogether. This year we want to carry on the job and that's why we are going right into the BNP heartlands, the communities the BNP has long considered their own.
Victory cannot be taken for granted. The economic problems help the fascists and the collapse in the Liberal Democrat vote makes some previously safe council seats vulnerable to the BNP. The threat of the BNP can also provide us with an opportunity. If we are successful in May then we can wipe out almost half of the remaining BNP councillors. That includes the five remaining councillors in Stoke-on-Trent, which Nick Griffin once described as the party's 'jewel in the crown'.
If there's not an event near you but you would like to organise one then drop me a line at nick@hopenothate.org.uk
We cannot afford to sit by and hope the BNP lose - we need to make it happen. We've done it before and we can do it again.
