What's Happening in Europe?‏

'Europe is seeing some of the largest demonstrations since World War II, with labor agitation being the major trademark' writes Vincent Navarro in US webzine Counterpunch.

Rising unemployment, a decline in working class share of national income and erosion of social protections are identified as underlying causes of industrial and social unrest.

In a scathing critique of employer friendly EU institutions Navarro notes that across Europe right-wing governing parties are worsening the situation by 'strengthening their anti-labor policies with budget cuts in welfare states and nasty austerity policies'.
