The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) has congratulated striking public service workers and their supporters from other unions and the general public on the magnificent turnout at the nationwide marches throughout South Africa yesterday:
“We urge the government to take note of the determination of the striking workers and the depth of solidarity support they are receiving from the majority of South Africans. They should return to the Bargaining Council with a new offer, so that we can reach a settlement at the earliest possible moment. It is in everyone’s interest to bring the strike to an end as speedily as possible.”
