Con Dem cuts - Manchester members speak out on Radio 4 PM programme‏

Points are made on the implications of £1.16bn cuts in local government this year – the impact on local economies, loss of tax yield to treasury and increased reliance on benefits – in work and out of work – job losses not a painless solution – and on pay the point is made that local government workers already face a pay cut because rises haven’t kept up with inflation.

Also interviewed is a worker from the Connexions service widely reported to be the biggest service at risk following the £670 cuts in the Education Department’s budget.
