A colourful UNISON contingent joined thousands of protestors at today's National Pensioners Convention initiated London march and rally in defence of the welfare state and public services.

UNISON General Secretary Dave Prentis was one of a broad based platform of speakers. Dave warned all politicians but particularly David Cameron that pensioners and trade unionists would not pay the price of a crisis not of our making.
He said that Gordon Brown needs to think again if he believes hatred of Tories is enough of a reason for people to vote Labour. Britain's unions won't stand for cuts or attacks. To loud cheers Dave proposed that UNISON organise a whip round to pay for the bankers to go!
