UNISON is calling on members to support two pre-General Election demonstrations in support of the welfare state and public services which are being held in London and Glasgow on 10 April.

On the same day, UNISON Scotland is organising a stop a march and rally in Glasgow and is calling on UNISON members, community groups and members of the public to demonstrate against cuts in jobs and vital public services.

UNISON General Secretary Dave Prentis said: "there has never been a more urgent or more appropriate time to show our support for public services and the April events will play an essential role in countering the attacks on public services by the media. It is a fact that the public services are doing more to help people through this recession."
