Pay penalties for sickness in breach of NHS national agreement

UNISON won a landmark legal victory yesterday when an Employment Tribunal ruled that the decision by a Manchester NHS Trust to defer incremental progression because of sickness absence amounted to unlawful deductions from pay. Paul Foley, North West regional head of health for UNISON, said: "This is a victory for fairness.
