Sport investment: Headlines can be Sooooo Deceptive .....
Glasgow Herald – Monday.”Cameron’s Vow to invest millions in the run up to Rio”. The immediate response has got to be, well maybe the leopard can change his spots. Could the Prime Minister’s reaction to the real Olympic spirit have caused a complete sea change in his attitude? Has he responded to the camaraderie, the sense of belonging, the feeling of real community?

Benefits of State Education?
News that 70 per cent of Scottish medals winners at the Olympics came from state schools should give some encouragement that the public education system in Scotland is delivering better that the UK overall. But the debate over funding in the last few days betrays the standard tactic of the Right of mounting assaults and blaming the victims.

Working class kids deserve a sporting chance
When Labour came into office in 1997 they faced a legacy of neglect on school buildings and the rampant sale of school playing fields. Sports facilities in many schools were dire and funding for sports was ad hoc, disjointed and where it was available inefficient because resources were not shared within local areas.
