War on Want, the School of Law at SOAS University and the Russell Tribunal on Palestine recently hosted Angela Davis and Gina Dent for a discussion on Justice for Palestine and the Stop G4S campaign.
   It was a unique opportunity to hear Angela and Gina discuss Palestine and the struggle for liberty in a world of growing militarisation, privatised repression and the proliferation of prisons.

Call for G4S to pull out of contracts in Israel & occupied Palestine

UNISON is backing the call for G4S to end commercial activity in Israel and Palestine. The British-Danish private security firm provides services and equipment to Israeli prisons, checkpoints, the Apartheid Wall and the Israeli police. The Palestine Solidarity Campaign is co-ordinating opposition to G4S including lobbying of the company's AGM and running leverage campaigns targeting G4S clients such as the BBC:

Shock Horror. Private companies rip off the state!

Is anyone really surprised by the audacious scale of ‘over-billing’ and ‘phantom offenders’ that have led to G4S being referred to the serious fraud office? It looks pretty damning that at worse this is serious fraud and at best downright incompetence on the part of G4S unable to get their invoicing married up to work actually carried out. But this unveils the real problem with outsourcing.
