Colombian trade unionists' lives in danger
The TUC's Brendan Barber has written to the Colombian ambassador expressing concern for the safety of President Oscar Arturo Orozco (pictured) and Secretary General Wilson Jaramillo of the Caldas branch of Central Unitaria de Trabajadores (CUT) after they were shot at on the way to a meeting with local fishermen.

Record number of Palestinians displaced by demolitions as Quartet continues to talk
Twenty aid agencies and human rights groups report that Israeli authorities have stepped up unlawful demolitions in the West Bank including East Jerusalem over the past year, displacing a record number of Palestinian families from their homes. The statement comes as the Middle East Quartet meets in Jerusalem in its latest effort to revive peace talks. http://www.amnesty.org.uk/news_details.asp?NewsID=19857

AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL: Israeli inquiry into Gaza flotilla deaths no more than a whitewash
Amnesty International has condemned the findings of an Israeli inquiry into last year’s raid on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla as a “whitewash” which failed to account for the deaths of nine Turkish nationals.
