Northern Public Services Alliance growing stronger‏

In the Northern region of England local PSA coalitions have been launched in North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Sunderland, Durham, Teeside, Newcastle, Gateshead, Northumberland, and Cumbria. The Northern PSA is committed to engage with public sector workers, service users, community/voluntary sector organisations to build a massive campaign against the Government's austerity measures which will impact on the most vulnerable in society.

It is critical to challenge these attacks and to promote a positive alternative agenda - one such as introducing a Robin Hood tax; one such as tackling the massive tax evasion in the country; and one that invests in public services to get us through and out of recession.

Local coalitions are now organising that campaign in their workplaces and communities, building alliances on a local level to promote an alternative positive agenda, and to build for a massive regional event for the ETUC Day of Action on 29 September.

The numbers who have already joined up to our campaign in their local area shows there is support, and we can stand up to these attacks. Over the next fews weeks there will be further meetings, local activities and a real energy to get organised, recruit people to join us and to build sustainable, long term alliances. The fight has started.
