Con Dem cuts undermine equal pay progress in public sector‏

A Chartered Management Institute report indicates that gender pay discrimination remains deeply embedded in the UK labour market, particularly in private sector businesses. http://www.managers.org.uk/news/equal-pay-women-still-57-years-away
Public Finance reports that although the gender gap is closing in the public sector far quicker than in the private sector but the government's spending cuts could slow this down.

Heather Wakefield, UNISON national secretary for local government said, ‘The ten years it will take to close the pay gap in the public sector is still ten years too long given that people have had 40 years already to close the gap. What is happening with cuts and employers working away from doing positive single status agreements in local government and the NHS being freed up for competition, we are likely to see a bigger gender gap in the public sector.' http://www.publicfinance.co.uk/news/2010/08/spending-cuts-threaten-equal-pay-push/
