Congratulations are due to the TUC for the publication this week of a new report, “Exploding the Public Sector Pensions Myths”. (available at www.tuc.org.uk/extras/publicsectorpensions.pdf) This provides excellent information on all the aspects which the Tory and Liberal democrat politicians are using to attack public sector pensions, and to create the illusion of the feather bedded public sector pensioner.

Surveys point to concerns re social work cover

See UNISON on Newsnight Scotland UNISON, Scotland's social care workers union, today highlighted their concern about increasing pressure and stress on social care workers, highlighted by a survey released by the BBC today (based on a Freedom of Information request showing very high caseloads per social worker in some authorities.)

European agreement on sharps signed

17/07/09) Unions and hospital employers have signed a Europe-wide agreement to set minimum standards for preventing injuries to health workers caused by 'sharps', including needles.
