International pressure on Plymouth Council to re-recognise UNISON

The European Federation of Public Service Unions (EPSU) - which represents 8 million public service workers from more than 275 unions - has called on Plymouth City Council to re-recognise UNISON.

EPSU said that the council's vindictive move last week violated "the norms and values as laid-down in European and international agreements such as those of the International Labour Organisation and which have been ratified by the UK."

Today, general meetings of UNISON members take place in Plymouth at which regional secretary Joanne Kaye will report on the union's industrial, legal and political strategies to re-establish collective union rights for the over 2000 UNISON members at the City Council:
