Shameless Mandelson backtracks on agency workers‏

A sickening report in the FT about yesterday's announcement by Business Secretary Lord Mandelson that agency workers rights (and other employment rights) are to be delayed until the latest possible date of October 2011.

This is a total capitulation to the business lobby and reneges on Gordon Brown's unequivocal commitment made at the TUC last month:

‘I believe that the fight for fairness must include agency workers, and so I pledge to you today that when parliament returns our new legislative programme will include equal treatment for agency workers and that in the coming few months the law will be on the statute book.’
