Employers offer rejected by Leeds strikers‏

UNISON website is reporting that ‘refuse workers have voted to reject Leeds City Council’s latest pay offer after being set hiked-up bin collection speed targets’.

UNISON members have been on strike for seven weeks after the council announced plans to cut their wages by a third – from around £18,000 to £13,000.

In a new development UNISON is calling on the political leadership of Leeds City Council to meet with the unions. UNISON official Alan Hughes said “Council officers have been coming to negotiations with their hands tied because they have been given strict instructions from the politicians about what they can and cannot negotiate about."
