Reclaiming Our NHS Conference 23 June 2012

A major one-day conference is taking place on 23 June 2012, in London, to look at how we can continue the campaign to protect the NHS and its principles. The conference will be held from 10.30 in the Friends Meeting House Euston Road and full details and a poster are at www.nhscampaign.org/reclaiming

It’s the most controversial change in the 63 years since the NHS was founded and will affect us all. Soon our NHS may not be able to deliver the healthcare we have come to expect and rely upon. Many people are worried and want to find out what’s happening and what they can do about it.

This conference provides an opportunity to hear directly from health experts and campaigners who will explain the latest news about the government’s NHS changes. Find out how they will affect you and your family and join NHS supporters from across the country - NHS staff, patients, charities, trade unions, pensioners and campaigners - to discuss how we can work together, to secure the local services we need and to protect our NHS.
Speakers you can hear on the day include:

  • Polly Toynbee - Guardian columnist and writer
  • France O'Grady - TUC Deputy General Secretary
  • Jacky Davis - BMA council and Co-Chair of the NHS Consultants Association
  • Clare Gerada - Chair of the Royal College of GPs
  • David Babbs - Executive Director 38 Degrees
  • Harry Keen - President of the NHS Support Federation
  • John Lister - Health journalist and Director of Health Emergency
  • Wendy Savage - Co-Chair of Keep Our NHS Public
The conference is open to everyone. It will combine information, workshops and lively debate:

- presentations from health experts on the impact of the Health and Social Care Act

- discussion workshops to share experiences, information and talk about campaign strategy

- a lively Question Time style debate about the future of our NHS

- exhibitors with resources and information to help NHS campaigners

Venue: Friends Meeting House, Euston Road, London.
