Academies two tier workforce - salary pay outs and wages cuts

The Guardian reports today that Charities that run chains of academy schools are using public funds to pay senior staff six-figure salaries, with some on £240,000 or more. http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/2011/nov/14/academies-pay-200k-salaries?CMP=twt_gu

The Government’s abolition of the 2 tier workforce code earlier this year and the privatisation of schools through the Academies programme has left many thousands of non teaching staff on low wages, with no sick pay, with minimum holidays, reduced health and safety and increased work rates with less staff. Yet another obscenity in these ‘hard times’ then that these ‘charities’ can pay out such obscene amounts to senior figures and drive down the living standards of people really committed to education of children.
