UNISON President tells Canadian health care workers: Beware of privatisation!

Eleanor Smith, UNISON President addressed the health care sector conference of CUPE, Canada's largest public service union, yesterday in Vancouver.

In her speech, Eleanor highlighted some of the major issues related to the NHS, and drew parallels between the situation in the UK and in Canada. She spoke particularly about cuts to the public system, public private partnerships, contracting out, and the implementation of "market mechanisms" within the health care system. Privatisation reduces accessibility and has not been shown to increase efficiency http://cupe.ca/cupe-national-convention/president-britains-unison-tells-health
