Southampton Council Workers step up industrial action against Tory pay cuts

UNISON and Unite members employed in Southampton City Council this week have stepped up a programme of industrial action in opposition to imposed contracts which include swingeing pay cuts:

This week refuse collectors are taking all out action for five days, to be followed by similar action next week by parking operations staff. Meanwhile trade unionists across the Council are taking action short of strike action including a refusal to use personal cars for council business:
