Egypt's Military Junta moves against Unions

Reuters is reporting that Egypt's ruling Higher Military Council is intending to ban 'meetings by labour unions or professional syndicates, effectively forbidding strikes': http://af.reuters.com/article/egyptNews/idAFNWEB867320110213

Obama's demand on Friday that 'the people of Egypt be allowed to decide their future' rings hollow, with the US controlled and funded military junta firmly in control. Military 'facilitation' of democracy in Egypt has existed for 60 years.

The wishful thinking of recent days - that the middle east dynamic has irrevocably changed - was premature.Time will tell if the grip of the western military industrial complex on Egypt has been loosened. The immediate repression of the very trade unions which were instrumental in the ousting of Mubarak means that the omens are not good.
