Tory NHS axe man Andrew Lansley is pressing for cuts beyond the £20bn target set by health service managers for the next 3 years.

Leading public finance experts say the Tory plans are 'not achievable.'

UNISON GS Dave Prentis commented that "you cannot possibly hope to meet increased demand, or improve outcomes, if you take money out of the health system. We have made enormous efforts over the past three years to make efficiency savings in the NHS. There is nothing left to cut without seriously hitting patient care and waiting lists. What happened to all those election promises about maintaining NHS spending?"
