Treasury butchers get busy on Tory cuts plans‏

The Times reports that Treasury officials are working flat out to identify the £6bn cuts pledged by the Tories in their first year of office. Centre stage as befits an anti working class party is an attack on welfare:

‘Options drawn up by the Treasury and the Department for Work and Pensions in the past few weeks include means-testing child benefit, cutting disability and housing benefits and freezing all payments in cash terms. Freezing benefits for one year would save £4 billion while freezing them for a whole parliament would save £24 billion in the fifth year alone. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/politics/article7117579.ece
