To John Ging, UNRWA Director of operations in Gaza
As people living in Scotland we are writing to let you know of our support for what you peacefully and constructively are trying to do in Gaza, in very difficult circumstances, to fulfill the mandate of UNRWA in caring for the welfare of Palestinian refugees.
We are particularly concerned about the high levels of pollution of the water supply and the problems of untreated sewage which is leading to widespread nitrate poisoning.
We recognise that children, who make up the majority, are the most vulnerable group, but that the whole population is at risk.
Alison Phillips, an elder of the Church of Scotland from Highland Perthshire, will be bringing this letter to you as one of a large number of people taking part in the Gaza Freedom March to press for a lifting of the blockade that prevents reconstruction and an acceptable quality of life in Gaza.
She has our good wishes and we extend these at Christmas to you, your staff and helpers, and to all who try to bring humanitarian relief and who are working for a peaceful and just solution to the suffering of the people of Gaza.
Yours sincerely,
